Dams, Disease, Discovery: Sheffield’s Water Heritage in Ewden Valley
This 8-mile walk led by Serena takes you past lots of interesting historical sites. Do read the walk description to learn more about the history of Ewden Valley and know what to look out for on the day.
Blackamoor Nature Reserve and Totley Moors
Lee is taking the group on a leisurely 7-mile circular walk from Totley. What you can expect: lovely views, boggy moors, a pub at the end and hopefully some deer!

Autumn Equinox Amble
We’re on equinox 3 out of 4 for the year, and we all know what that means: Miranda will be leading a 7.4-mile walk to a stone circle! Especially if you’ve not been before, make sure to sign up.

Right to Roam Sheffield Launch
If you are passionate about the countryside then come and join the right to roam movement to stand in solidarity with those working to protect and expand public access to nature.

Weekend Away: Ennerdale (Lake District)
We’re back in the Lake District this summer, all the way over in the wild valley of Ennerdale.

Margery Hill and Lost Lad viewpoint
A long walk on Thursday for those of us who work irregular hours. Zoe has planned a 13-mile hike through one of the quieter and less accessible areas of the Peak District, so this is a perfect opportunity to venture beyond the known routes!
Lyme Park Post-Parkrun Potter
This one is for Jono and Emma’s fellow parkrun enthusiasts! After the parkrun at Lyme Park, there will be a 7.5-mile walk around the southern side of the park. Of course you can also join without doing the run beforehand.
Coffee Walk
Zoe and Emma are hosting a relaxed Tuesday morning walk through the Limb Valley and along Porter Brook. It will be 6 miles of wandering the woods in this area with the option to get a hot drink at the end.

AGM 2025
It’s time for our Annual General Meeting! A chance for a good catch up over an drink, and to vote in the next committee.

Snakes and Ladders
Let’s embark on a full-day, strenous Snakes & Ladders game! Jonathan will be leading a hike up ladders and down snakes for 15.6 miles, so if you’re up for a challenge, mark this one in your calendar.

Wentworth Woodhouse and Elsecar Heritage Centre (linear walk Meadowhall to Elsecar)
This 11-mile walk covers an area north of Sheffield that we don’t go to very often! So switch it up by joining John and Liam to admire Wentworth Park, Elsecar Reservoir and more.

Weekend Away: Robin Hood’s Bay (North Yorkshire Moors)
For our last weekend away of 2025, we’ll be between the North Yorkshire Moors and the North Sea, on the hillside of Robin Hood’s Bay

Cromford and Crich Circular
Venture just outside the southeastern end of the Peak District on this 11-mile walk led by Liam. Your day will be filled with scenic valleys, woods, tunnels, aquaducts, viewpoints, a memorial stand, and of course a pub at the end!

The Last Ice Cream Walk of the Summer! (Or first Ice Cream walk of Autumn)
A leisurely, 7-mile walk with ice cream at the end. Sounds good, right? Join Lee for an afternoon in Hope Valley, hopefully with good weather to make the ice cream taste even better.
Walking Sheffield’s Western Watercourses
Jonathan and Catherine are co-leading this 12-mile walk around the west side of Sheffield, starting and ending at Endcliffe park. This walk will be joined by some lovely people from the Sheffield 40s Walking Group.

Pub & Plan social
Let’s plan some walks to fill up the walks calendar for autumn! The Pub & Plan social is for walk leaders who want to discuss routes, co-leading and more. Of course with a pint and food if you fancy!
Limb Valley and Porter Clough
Looking for an easy outdoor start to your Sunday? Jenny is leading a 5-mile walk on the edge of Sheffield. Including an option to end with a visit to the Botanical Gardens.

Rivelin Circular
A moderate walk from rivelin valley going to Storrs and Underbank Chapel and Stannington.

Mayfield Meander
David is repeating his 8-mile walk from May to accommodate the many keen walkers this weekend! It’s a classic route at a leisurely pace, so suitable for (almost) everyone.

Weekend Away: Isle of Man
We’re going overseas this time, to Ramsey on the Isle of Man. Up in the north east (the sunny side) of the island, we have access to coast, mountains, and historic sites.

Sheffield Round Walk East
Gergely is leading his first walk: a 7-miler on part of the popular Sheffield Round Walk. If the full Round Walk seems a bit much, this is your perfect chance to explore its eastern half (and have a drink after).

A walk for our wonderful SWG leaders, as a thank you to everyone who has led a walk with the group over the last year.

Book Club #10 There Are Rivers in the Sky
If you like reading then come and join the book club and discuss the book with like minded people

Ey-am no Fool(ow)
If you’ve missed out on seeing the well dressings until now, Rachel’s walk is a good opportunity to see the last of them. After this leisurely 7-miler, there is the option to explore more of Eyam before taking the bus home.
H(e)athersage
Miranda has planned another nature-themed walk to admire the blooming heather around H(e)athersage. This 7.3-mile hike is easy to reach by both train and bus.
Asguardian Adventure to Thor’s Cave
This is your chance to explore Thor’s Cave, as well as the Royal Oak pub afterwards. Emma has planned a moderate, but slightly fast-paced walk of about 9.2 miles. We hope to see you there!

Derwent Edge & Abbey Brook
If you’re up for a strenuous walk, this 11.5-mile hike led by Peter is a good choice. It will be full of edges, hills and gorgeous views from the tops. Aside from sturdy hiking boots, don’t forget to bring a camera!

Simz Golf
Come and join us for some fun as we practice our shots and play some games at Simz golf.

Five Dales Walk
Time to catch a bus to Millers Dale for Nick’s 9-mile walk through five different dales, ending in Castleton.

Summer Outdoor swimming social
If you enjoy swimming then come and join us for an evening at the outdoor heated pool

Darley Bridge to Wensley Dale to Bonsall and a drink in Matlock Bath
Join Liam for a fun 10-mile outing to Matlock. This walk will involve a pub stop towards the end in Matlock Bath, as well as walking through woods and moors.

Brooks & Plantations
Take bus 97 or 98 to Millhouses park for this 10-mile walk around Totley led by Lotte. Though the route remains close to Sheffield, it’s a lengthy one with a few climbs. A perfect way to start your Sunday!

Ladybower Reservoir
Kamila has planned a leisurely 5-mile walk on Saturday afternoon for those who want to sleep in. Make sure to arrange car shares, as there is no bus going to Fairholmes.

B&B&B walk
We’re back with more weekday walks! On Monday, Rachel will lead the group on a 9.5-mile walk between Bamford to Hope train stations at a leisurely pace.
Wyming Brook and Hallam Moors
Join Beth on her first hike as a walk leader. This walk involves a moderate pace for around 9 miles in the Redmires area. There is both a public transport link and a pub at the end, so what more could you ask for?!

Post-Parkrun walk to the Plague Village
This 11-mile walk led by Emma is perfect for parkrun enthusiasts. After doing the Monsal Trail parkrun, there is time to change into your hiking gear and join a moderately challenging loop to Eyam. Not into running? No problem, you can of course choose join just for the hike.
Night hike
If you’re ready for an adventure, you’ll want to sign up for this 21-mile night walk. Jonathan, David and Fiona will meet you at the Yorkshire Bridge Inn for dinner before setting off on a walk that lasts throughout the night. Please note that this hike is for members only and requires signing up via a Google Form.

SWG Pub Hunt 2025
The annual pub hunt is back! Thanks to Bryn, we can again test our orienteering skills by engaging in a 9.5-mile walk across the Peaks to find 4 pubs. It’s going to be a fun day, so make sure to mark it down in your calendar.

SWG Summer Party 2025
One of the social highlights of the year! This time with exclusive venue hire, welcome drinks and a seasonal feast!
