Weekend Away: Anglesey

  • Anglesey Outdoors Porthdafarch Road Holyhead, Wales, LL65 2LP United Kingdom (map)

Mark the Easter weekend on your calendar for a Weekend Away to Anglesey in the northwest of Wales. It’s a perfect place for stunning coastal walks. The outdoors centre where we will be staying is located at a 30-minute walk from Holyhead.

  • Booking opens: Monday 9th February

  • Price: TBD

  • Places available: 31

We’ll be staying on the western tip of Anglesey, where the hilliest part of the coast is located. Near Holyhead, there are options to see lighthouses, standing stones, cairns, beaches and beautiful cliffs. The Anglesey Coast Path runs along the edge of the island as part of the Wales Coast Path. There are several nature areas along the way, such as The Range, RSPB Cymru Ynys Lawd and Porth Diana North Wales Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve, as well as country parks.

Weekends Away are only open to Ramblers members. You will need to arrange your own transport, although the group will try to put people in touch to arrange lift shares. Taking the train to Holyhead is highly recommended, as it’s a gorgeous ride along the northern coast of Wales with sights of castles, beaches and rock formations. You will also pass the famous station of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.

We have exclusive use of main building of the outdoor centre from 16:00 on Friday, but you are welcome to arrive at any time after that. Some people like to travel early to make the most of the day, while others prefer to travel after work. The finish time will depend on how long any walks on Sunday take before returning home. We have to check out of the bunkhouse before 10:00.
