It’s been a while since our last camping trip, but we have found a lovely campsite on the border of the Staffordshire Peaks near Leek. We have reserved 20 spots for single person tents, but this number can be increased and adapted to 2-person tents where needed. The campsite is located near The Roaches and Hen Cloud. But the best part is that it has a pizza van! Do make sure to bring 1 pound coins for the use of showers.

Near the campsite we’ll find some easygoing trails around Tittesworth reservoir. Leek is an hour’s walk away and outside of the Peak District boundaries, so we’re likely to head north for any hikes. To the northwest, there are great opportunities for hill walking (including 3 Ethels). Further away in the northeast, there is the option of going to Blake Mere Mermaid Pool.

Weekends Away are only open to Ramblers members. You will need to arrange your own transport, although the group will try to put people in touch to arrange lift shares. There are buses from Buxton, but driving is probably the easiest way to get to the campsite.

We will be sharing the campsite with other people, and we’re welcome to set up our tents anytime from 11:00 on Friday. No need to be quite so early, though. Some people like to travel early to make the most of the day, while others prefer to travel after work. The finish time will depend on how long any walks on Sunday take before returning home. We have to leave the campsite before 11:00.
