Full description: Starting at Hopton Hall in Derbyshire, we will follow the path around Carsington and Doglow Woods then head north-west up to our featured Ethel-of-the-day Harboro’ Rocks standing high at 379m (or 1,243ft for the imperialists among us - you weirdos!) with hopefully some good views of Carsington Water. We will then come down and, after the withdrawal symptoms have ceased (BYO naloxone), we will head down the mountain and pass such natural awe-inspiring landmarks as ‘air shaft’, ‘depot’ and ‘wind turbine’ before looping back round to Hopton Hall where hopefully we should all arrive together in one piece (provided there hasn’t been some horrible wind turbine related mishap).
There is a beautiful snowdrop walk in the grounds of Hopton Hall which is only open in February, which by happy coincidence is the very same month it is right now! Admission to the Snowdrop walk is £5 per person if you are interested and would like to see some pretty flowers. I will state, for the record, that I do not have a stake in Big Snowdrop, and those are just the rules of Hopton Hall.
Public transport or car sharing options: Unfortunately, there is no direct public transport. Car pooling is recommend. Car snookering is not.
(Please arrange car shares in the Meetup comments)
It is worth noting that Hopton Hall is in Derbyshire about 1 hour away by car so please leave in plenty of time.
