Upcoming Weekend Away
Ramsey (Isle of Man), Thursday 4th - Monday 8th September

Night hike
If you’re ready for an adventure, you’ll want to sign up for this 21-mile night walk. Jonathan, David and Fiona will meet you at the Yorkshire Bridge Inn for dinner before setting off on a walk that lasts throughout the night. Please note that this hike is for members only and requires signing up via a Google Form.

Post-Parkrun walk to the Plague Village
This 11-mile walk led by Emma is perfect for parkrun enthusiasts. After doing the Monsal Trail parkrun, there is time to change into your hiking gear and join a moderately challenging loop to Eyam. Not into running? No problem, you can of course choose join just for the hike.
Wyming Brook and Hallam Moors
Join Beth on her first hike as a walk leader. This walk involves a moderate pace for around 9 miles in the Redmires area. There is both a public transport link and a pub at the end, so what more could you ask for?!

B&B&B walk
We’re back with more weekday walks! On Monday, Rachel will lead the group on a 9.5-mile walk between Bamford to Hope train stations at a leisurely pace.

Darley Bridge to Wensley Dale to Bonsall and a drink in Matlock Bath
Join Liam for a fun 10-mile outing to Matlock. This walk will involve a pub stop towards the end in Matlock Bath, as well as walking through woods and moors.

Summer Outdoor swimming social
If you enjoy swimming then come and join us for an evening at the outdoor heated pool

Simz Golf
Come and join us for some fun as we practice our shots and play some games at Simz golf.

Derwent Edge & Abbey Brook
If you’re up for a strenuous walk, this 10-mile hike led by Peter is a good choice. It will be full of edges, hills and gorgeous views from the tops. Aside from sturdy hiking boots, don’t forget to bring a camera!
Asguardian Adventure to Thor’s Cave
This is your chance to explore Thor’s Cave, as well as the Royal Oak pub afterwards. Emma has planned a moderate, but slightly fast-paced walk of about 9.2 miles. We hope to see you there!

We’re going overseas this time, to Ramsey on the Isle of Man. Up in the north east (the sunny side) of the island, we have access to coast, mountains, and historic sites.

Rivelin Circular
A moderate walk from rivelin valley going to Storrs and Underbank Chapel and Stannington.
High Neb and Stanage Edge
Beth is leading a small-group walk that covers roughly 8 miles and 400 metres of ascent. It promises some good views and an optional pub/café stop before taking the train back from Hathersage to Sheffield.

Weekend Away: Ennerdale (Lake District)
We’re back in the Lake District this summer, all the way over in the wild valley of Ennerdale.

SWG Pub Hunt 2025
The annual pub hunt is back! Thanks to Bryn, we can again test our orienteering skills by engaging in a 9.5-mile walk across the Peaks to find 4 pubs. It’s going to be a fun day, so make sure to mark it down in your calendar.

SWG Summer Party 2025
One of the social highlights of the year! This time with exclusive venue hire, welcome drinks and a seasonal feast!
The Burbage Loop (a summer party warm up)
Get the party started early by joining Miranda on a 6-mile loop starting and ending at Fox House. Whether you’re attending the summer party or not, please feel invited to this walk!

Which brook is the Fairest of them all?
Peter wants to cover quite a few miles and steep slopes this evening. So, sign up if you want to make the most of the daylight with a strenous 5 to 6-mile hike around Kinder Scout. Sturdy boots required!

Back to Back Tors
This 15.5-mile walk with over a 1000 meters of ascent is for our more seasoned hikers. Led by Jonathan, the route will take you over 2 Back Tors with lots of pretty views along the way.

Weekend Away: Nidderdale (Yorkshire Dales)
Our summer weekend away takes us to Nidderdale on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. West End Outdoor Centre on Blubberhouses moor between Nidderdale and Wharfedale, with plenty of walks and attractions nearby.

Top of Sheffield
This 6.5-mile evening walk led by Peter will take you to the top of the near-highest hill in South Yorkshire. It is promising to be a hike with good views and a fast pace, but sadly it’s inaccessible by public transport.

The Great Ridge from Edale
If you happen to have a Tuesday off, why not use it to go on a walk? Zoe and Bradley invite you to joing this 9-mile hike. This is your chance to summit Mam Tor without the crowds!

Learn to Lead! A Lodge Moor Explore (with pub and food)
Are you intersted in leading walks with the group, but not sure you have the confidence or map reading skills? Join Emily, Emma and Mollie for a walk you will all help to plan and lead :)

If you want to be more confident about map reading, then come along to go through the basics skills in a friendly environment

Walking and watching the sun set. What more could you wish for on a Thursday evening? Sign up on Meetup to join Peter for this fast-paced, 5.5-mile evening walk. And don’t forget to bring a head torch.

Bamford Station to Bamford Edge & Back
A classic Bamford loop that is easy to get to by train. Molly will be leading this 6.1-mile walk with Bamford Edge as the highlight.

Summer Solstice Saunter
It’s summer solstice! As has become tradition, Miranda will be leading a 7.5-mile walk around one of her favourite stone circles to celebrate the official start of summer. Will you come along?

Flowers of the Dales
This 10-mile walk will take you past some of the beautiful ‘well dressings’ in the Peak District village of Youlgrave. Peter will be leading the way.
Midsummer Evening Dream Walk
Emma has planned a 5.3-mile linear route from Stoney Middleton to Fox house that is the perfect start to your weekend. It involves a few steep ascents, but you will be rewarded with good views!

Mount Famine & South Head from Chinley
Want to go on a Peak District walk that is easy to get to? If so, join Serena for this 9.4-mile walk starting and ending at Chinley station.

Edale Horseshoe
Looking for a strenuous hike? Look no further, because we’ve got a really good, fast-paced 16-miler planned. With lots of hills, challenging terrain and a full day of walking, Jonathan’s hike is not for beginners.

Section 6 - Sheffield Country Walk
Another evening walk, this time covering the longest, 8.5-mile section of the Sheffield Country Walk. Lotte will again be leading the group through Sheffield’s countryside to make the most of this Wednesday evening.

Morning walk and coffee
Together with Zoe and Emma, you can embark on a lovely weekday morning walk. With just 4 miles to cover and a coffee stop, it’s a good way to start your day.

A leg burner up Win Hill
Bradley’s first hike as a walk leader can be described as short and steep! Taking on the challenging Parkin Clough up to the top of Win Hill, this 6.5-mile walk requires a good level of fitness (and determination!).


Springwatch wildlife walk
Wildlife watching enthusiasts will need to mark this one in their calendar! Our in-house ecologist Fiona is leading a roughly 8-mile walk around Longshaw Estate to try and find all sorts of local wildlife around there.
