Weekend Away: Elterwater
Our final weekend of the year will see us in the Lake District for bonfire weekend.

Castleton Christmas Lights
Castleton have a lights switch on, festive parade and Christmas tree festival planned for 14th November from 4pm. We will head into the village for hot chocolate, to see the parade and the light switch on including seeing Pevril Castle floodlit.
SWG Christmas Party 2026
Seasons greetings everyone!
We are please to announce this year’s SWG Christmas Party will be taking place at the Rutland Hotel on Saturday 5th December starting from 6.30pm!
We will eat till we burst, with a 3 course meal, interspersed with quizzes, puzzles, and prizes! This year’s ticket includes a welcome drink and two additional free drinks.

Pub & Plan! SWG Walk Leaders' Social
Calling all SWG Walks Leaders, new and old – this social is for you!
Get together with other walk leaders to help plan walks, swap notes on routes, and share ideas!
We have the upstairs room at The Fat Cat booked out just for us, so what better way to spend an evening than chatting all things walks over a drink and a map.
If you’ve never led a walk with the group but want to find out more about leading, please do join us. You can pair up with more experience walk leaders to plan your walk and chat with your Safety & Training Officer to learn how to become a walk leader 🙂
This will also be a good opportunity to pick up any maps you may want to borrow, as well compasses, first aid kits etc that you may need for your next walk. Please put any requests into the Meetup chat.
If possible, please come prepared with a couple of walks ideas/suggestions, and your availability, so we can start filling in the late Winter/Spring walks calendar.

Jonathan's Leaving Social
Following my “Dore to Moor to Dore” walk, my final lead as a resident of Sheffield, I will host a social on the terrace at The Dore Bar & Grill. They serve excellent coffee and range of drinks, as well as cakes and desserts, which can be ordered at the bar. Everyone is welcome whether they have been on the walk or not. Join Dave on a walk up Standage Edge via Carhead Rocks before descending through the North Leas estate back to the village.
Autumn Equinox(ish) Amble
Join Miranda on a walk from Monyash through Lathkill Dale up to Arbor Low stone circle before returning back to Monyash
Doves in the Cloud
Join Paul and Emma on a walk along the Tissington Trail to the north end of Dove Dale before climbing up to Thorpe Cloud to admire the view before heading back to the pub.

Join Gergley on a 9mile gentle walk between two famous Peak District locations, Bakewell and Eyam!
Ringalow to Longshaw
Join Charlotte on a 8 mille walk from Lady Cannings to Longshaw Estate before heading back across the moorland towards Lady Cannings.
Weekend Away: St Davids (Pembrokeshire)
This second trip to Wales will take us to the Pembrokeshire coast for a long bank holiday weekend.

Lotte, Serena and Chris are co-leading a challenging walk to the west of Buxton. It includes roughly 900 metres of ascent over 23 km/14.3 miles. A strenuous one!
