To finish off a year full of Weekends Away, we’re going for one last Lake District trip at the start of November. Hopefully we’ll catch the last of the autumn colours on some beautiful walks featuring caves, waterfalls and of course mountains.

The Lake District is always a popular destination and Elterwater is a great location for both challenging and easier walks. There are various lakes and tarns nearby, including Lake Grasmere. In terms of hills, some of the closest ones are Loughrigg Fell, Silver How, Little Fell and Lingmoor Fell. From Elterwater, we can also take a trail along the river Brathay. Plenty of options!

Weekends Away are only open to Ramblers members. You will need to arrange your own transport, although the group will try to put people in touch to arrange lift shares. The nearest train station is in Windermere.

We have exclusive use of the bunkhouse from 15:00 on Friday, but you are welcome to arrive at any time after that. Some people like to travel early to make the most of the day, while others prefer to travel after work. The finish time will depend on how long any walks on Sunday take before returning home. We have to check out of the bunkhouse before 10:00.
