Full description: There's no need to dream of California when Yorkshire provides such splendid autumn colours! We begin this walk on the outskirts of Norton before venturing into the incredibly underrated Moss Valley Nature reserve. We will take in the beautiful autumn colours of the beech and oak trees in the nature reserve, stopping for lunch in a clearing about halfway through the walk, before circling back across gently rolling agricultural land with views back toward the colours of the forest.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome, but do be aware we have to cross Bochum Parkway, which is a very busy road with fast-moving cars. There are also some stiles.
*The walk leader cannot be held responsible for the quality of the autumnal colours. The colours were great as of 1 November, but we all know how temperamental Yorkshire weather can be...
Public transport or car sharing options: You can catch the 18 bus from Sheffield interchange at 10:55. This will arrive at the Norton Avenue/Mawfa Rd stop for 11:30. For drivers, there is plenting of parking in the area. There are a few spots near the bus stop on the verge, but make sure you do not block the bus stop. There is also usually lots of free parking on Mawfa Crescent and roads nearby.
Be prepared: Please remember to dress appropriately for the time of year, with enough layers, sun protection if required, a waterproof, as well as food and water. Further information on what to bring can be found on our website here: https://www.sheffieldwalkinggroup.org.uk/be-prepared
