Full description:
Once upon a time on a foggy september afternoon I spent several hours on Blacka moor searching for a walking group with 30ft visibility in the fog. I gave up and went to fox house instead enjoying scenery and sheep along the way. This Sunday there is no fog and I will repeat that walk going from The Cross-scythes in Totley to Fox house. We will visit exciting landmarks such as; field with bull, steep ravine, bridge, field of sheep,
This will be a leisurely walk on a sunny day but be aware of the muddy path and the livestock! (dogs on leads please). This will be a muddy or boggy walk (requiring sturdy walking boots)
We have extra time to complete the walk so we may detour to enjoy Blacka moor, also I may run a short bonus walk to Burbage edge once at fox house.
Public transport or car sharing options:
This is a LINEAR walk, the start and end points are different!
The cross-scythes can be reached via the 97 / 98 / 218 bus routes. Arrives (12:37, 13:07, 13:37, 13:52)
Returning from fox house can be via the 65, 271 and 272 buses Departs( 15:46, 16:46, 18:06, 18:29)
If you want to drive it is possible to walk back to the start-point, alternately you could be smart and arrange to pick-up and drop off with another driver at the end point (10m drive either way). If you do this please let people know in the comments and share lifts.
