Full description: Starting from Castleton we have a steep walk up to Hollins Cross before walking along the great ridge to Lose Hill. We then descend into the village of Hope before a gentler walk along the river back to Castleton.
We will then be back in Castleton in time for the Christmas lights switch on... ***Please register for the separate social on meetup if you'd like to join us there.
Despite this being a shorter walk be aware of the ascent and please wear sturdy shoes. We may take a shorter route on the way back to Castleton to ensure we are back in time for the social... this will be dependent on our pace on the day.
Public transport or car sharing options: Bus 272 leaves Sheffield interchange at 11.10 and is timetabled to arrive at Castleton at 12.06. We will wait for this bus if it is late.
Return buses are roughly hourly..if only coming for the walk there is one to Sheffield at 16.00. If staying for the social to note that after 19.30 there is a gap until 22.25.
The walk leader will check with the bus company nearer the time whether the bus route will be effected by the light switch on.

Sign-up: Sign-up for this walk opens 5 days before the event. If you sign up and can no longer make it, please be respectful of others and remove yourself from the event so that others can take your place. We request you do this ***NO LATER THAN 6pm*** the night before the walk.
Please note: Sheffield 20’s and 30’s Walking Group is part of the Ramblers, a registered charity. All of our leaders are volunteers.
