Walk description: A walk of varied landscapes from Hope to Hathersage via the Ladybower reservoir. We will start from Hope train station and head towards Yorkshire Bridge on the Derwent Valley Heritage Way, before we reach Ladybower reservoir. We will then head into the moors above Ladybower with stunning views of the reservoir and Win Hill beyond. We will go across the moors towards Cutthroat Bridge (Cutthroat Bridge near Ladybower reservoir takes its gruesome name from a 400-year-old murder. A man named Robert Ridge came across ‘a man with a wound in his throat in Eashaw Clough’ who was still alive but later died. The victim had been found lying about 40 yards (37m) from where a road bridge was later built. Remembering the murder, local people always referred to it as Cutthroat Bridge. The present Cutthroat Bridge was built in 1821, you can read more about the history here https://www.gopeakwalking.co.uk/cutthroat-bridge-peak-district-history/) Then we'll cross over the A57 and head up the moors on the other side, before walking up to meet Stanage Edge which we will walk on for awhile before descending into Hathersage for some well earned refreshments. Please bring a packed lunch as we'll stop to eat along the way.

Public transport or car sharing options: Public transport: Get the 10.14 train which gets to Hope station at 10.38. Alternatively, catch the 9.45 bus from the bus interchange (it goes along ecclesall road) that gets you there around 10.45am. You will need to get off just before the bus goes into Hope village as the train station is just outside the village.

If you want to go by car, and as this is a linear walk, I'd suggest parking your car in Hathersage and getting the bus or train to Hope from there. The bus leaves Hathersage at 10.25am. The train leaves at 10.32am.
