Full description:
Quite a bit of up and down on this walk requiring good fitness and sturdy footwear. After a brief stint on the Monsal Trail, we head through Great Longstone, take a steep ascent to Longstone Edge, via Black Harry Lane, up Eyam Dale to the plague village itself (where there are numerous cafe/pub options for refreshments) then back via Stoney Middleton, to Great Longstone to Hassop. If we make it back to Hassop station in good time there is usually excellent pizza and coffee to be had perfect for after a long walk.
This walk has been timed so that anyone wanting to run the Monsal Trail Parkrun prior to setting off can do so. Please make sure, if you wish to join the running fun that you have appropriate clothing for the walk afterwards including footwear.
Public transport or car sharing options:
There is no public transport to Hassop Station. Please arrange car shares in the Meetup comments where possible, or if you wish to make your way from Bakewell, the Monsal Trail will lead you up to Hassop Station where the walk begins.
