Map reading in a pub!

  • The Stags Head 15 Psalter Lane Sheffield, England United Kingdom (map)

Fancy feeling more confident with an OS map in hand? Join us for a map reading social – perfect for beginners or anyone looking to brush up on the basics in a friendly setting.

We’ll cover:

  • The grid system – making sense of all those numbers

  • Path, road, and boundary symbols – what’s what on the map

  • Landscape features – reading contours, rivers, woodlands, access land

  • Handy extras – from footbridges to boundary stones and other things to guide your way

  • What to look for on a good walk – and what to steer clear of!

Led by Miranda, one of SWG’s regular leaders, this informal session is all about learning together over a drink (or two). No need to bring anything – just yourself and your enthusiasm!

We’ll be in the conservatory area at The Stag’s Head on Psalter Lane, where you can even have a meal if you want! If more than 6 people want food we’ll arrange pre-ordering meals.
