Full description: Beginning with a short walk along the river Tame, we make the steep ascent of Alphin Pike and follow Hoarstone Edge to Chew reservoir, passing the Wilderness Rocks along the way. Continuing on to Dovestones Edge, we pass Rob’s Rocks, Charnel Stones and Great Dove Stone rocks. We then pass Dean Rocks and head for the second Ethel of the walk, Ashway Moss. Continuing onwards, we pass the James Platt MP memorial and arrive at the highlight of the walk, The Trinnacle rock formation. We then follow Greenfield brook to Greenfield and Yeoman Hey Reservoirs.

There will then be a decision to make as a group on whether we follow the easier route back along Dovestone reservoir, or a more fun route (!) taking in Alderman’s Hill and the Pots and Pans monument. This would be an additional 135m of ascent, but half a mile shorter than the advertised length.

Public transport or car sharing options: The train departs Sheffield 08:48 and arrives Greenfield 10:12
One return train runs at 16:22 (arriving 17:44) and would require averaging a speed of 2MPH. Alternatively there is the 18:22 (arriving 19:41). If you choose to drive, please arrange car shares in the Meetup comments.
