Full description: Starting next to the Robin Hood pub in Birchen edge car park, we'll head along the wooded Dobb Edge towards the hunting tower in the Chatsworth Estate grounds. After a lunch break and possible snack stop at Chatsworth, we'll head to Baslow, climbing a steep hill that leads us to Wellingtons monument, which offers scenic views of the surrounding area. From there we'll walk through a slightly boggy area and up onto similarly scenic Birchen edge, where we pass a monument to Admiral Nelson, and three boulders named for his fleet at the battle of Trafalgar (which are a good bouldering spot, for people who like outdoor climbing). From there we drop back into where we started, next to the Robin Hood pub, an ideal place to end the walk with an optional post walk pint.

Public transport or car sharing options: Due to the walk start point, it is recommended to drive, or arrange a car share for yourself. Public transport is available that stops at the walk start, but it looks like a long journey. I've avoided starting this walk in Baslow in the interests of parking availability.

Be prepared: Please remember to dress appropriately for the time of year. A waterproof is always advised, as well as plenty of food and water. Please bring sun protection if required (sun hat, sunglasses, sun cream, etc). Further information on what to bring can be found on our website here: https://www.sheffieldwalkinggroup.org.uk/be-prepared

Sign-up: Sign-up for this walk opens one week before the event. If you sign up and can no longer make it, please be respectful of others and remove yourself from the event so that others can take your place. We request you do this ***NO LATER THAN 6pm*** the night before the walk.

Please note: Sheffield Millenial Walkers are a sister group to the Sheffield 20’s and 30’s Walking Group who are part of the Ramblers, a registered charity. All of our leaders are volunteers. Everyone is welcome to join us on our walks. New members can come on up to 3 walks before joining the group. After 3 walks, we require you to sign up as a Ramblers member for insurance purposes. More information about the group can be found at https://www.sheffieldwalkinggroup.org.uk/.
