Registering your event with Sheffield Walking Festival
Thank you for considering registering your event with the Sheffield Walking Festival - please find instructions on how to register your event below. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at sheffieldwalkingfestival@synedramblers.org.uk
Route 1 - Pre-registration with Heritage Open Days
Best for: Heritage groups who have already registered (or are considering registering) their event with Heritage Open Days
If your event is already registered with Heritage Open Days, then your event is insured through Heritage Open Days. To get your event advertised alongside the Sheffield Walking Festival event listings, simply send us the details and any suitable pictures / logos. We will then check it is suitable and add it to our listings.
Please fill in this form to let us know the details of your Heritage Open Days registered event.
Route 2 - Self-insurance through your organisation
Best for: Established walking groups and organisations with insurance that will cover your event, including Ramblers Groups
Unfortunately, the Ramblers cannot provide insurance cover for events run by non-Ramblers groups, but we will accept walks submitted where you can demonstrate your organisation has appropriate insurance in-place.
Please fill in this form to let us know details of your proposed event. You may also wish to register your event with the Heritage Open Days.
If you haven’t got insurance to cover your proposed event
If you haven't got insurance to host an event, we propose two options:
Arrange to host your event alongside a local Ramblers group, so the event is led by register Ramblers walks leaders and covered by Ramblers insurance.
Register your event with Heritage Open Days, who can provide insurance.
Please fill in this form, selecting “No, please help me arrange insurance cover for my proposed event” when asked about insurance.

Walk grading
We grade our walks according to walking difficulty / technical difficulty, based on the Ramblers walking grades.
We anticipate most urban walks/heritage tours will be ‘Easy’ to ‘Leisurely’ and countryside walks will be ‘Leisurely’ to ‘Moderate’.
Please think very carefully before submitting ‘Strenuous’ or ‘Technical’ walks, there is a high chance inexperienced walkers may book onto your walk without considering the walk grade.
