Weekend Away: Nidderdale (Yorkshire Dales)

  • West End Outdoor Centre West End Outdoor Centre Harrogate, England, HG3 4BA United Kingdom (map)

Our summer weekend away takes us to Nidderdale on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. West End Outdoor Centre on Blubberhouses moor between Nidderdale and Wharfedale, with plenty of walks and attractions nearby.

  • Booking open now

  • Bookings close Friday 20th June

  • Price £50

  • Places available: 30

Well-known walks within reach include Ilkley Moor (bring a hat), Bolton Abbey (famous for its stepping stones) and Brimham Rocks (for anyone who wants to pretend to be a climber). Other attractions nearby include Stump Cross Caverns, How Stean Gorge (with abseiling and gorge walking), and RHS Harlow Carr gardens.

Weekends away are only open to Ramblers members. You will need to arrange your own transport, although the group will try to put people in touch to arrange lift shares.

We usually have access to the bunkhouse from around 16:00 on Friday, but you are welcome to arrive at any time after that. Some people like to travel early to make the most of the day, while others prefer to travel after work. The finish time will depend on how long any walks on Sunday take before returning home.

All members can book onto this weekend, but due to a short-notice change of plans, we will give priority to people who booked onto the Ennerdale weekend away that was scheduled for June.
