Full description:

We'll meet at Matlock Train Station, cross the river and head towards Old Matlock for a look at the war memorial, and then generally head south-south-east to Leawood Pump House, which is planned to be operational. We'll have a look in, because it'd be rude not to.
From there, we'll walk along the canal towards Cromford.
Once we arrive in Cromford, we'll stop for an extended lunch break. There's a lovely place called Scarthin Books which has a small cafe and a lot of books. There's only a few miles until we're back, so feel free to buy as many as you think you can carry.
Once we're all suitably fed/watered/heavily-laden, we'll head north-west through Matlock Bath until we hit the Limestone Way, and then follow that back into Matlock.

Public transport or car sharing options:

The best train gets arrives from Sheffield at 9.23am.
The X17 bus from Chesterfield arrives just after 9am.
We'll co-ordinate on the day and set off when those travelling by train have arrived. As always, feel free to organise car sharing in the Meetup comments.

Be prepared:

Please remember to dress appropriately for the time of year, with enough layers, sun protection if required, a waterproof, as well as food and water. Further information on what to bring can be found on our website here: https://www.sheffieldwalkinggroup.org.uk/be-prepared

Sign-up for this walk opens 5 days before the event. If you sign up and can no longer make it, please be respectful of others and remove yourself from the event so that others can take your place. We request you do this ***NO LATER THAN 6pm*** the night before the walk.

Please note:

Sheffield 20’s and 30’s Walking Group is part of the Ramblers, a registered charity. All of our leaders are volunteers. Everyone is welcome to join us on our walks, there is no need to contact us in advance, and as long as you have a place on our Meetup booking system you can just show up. Non-members can come on up to 3 walks before joining the group. After 3 walks, we require you to sign up as a Ramblers member for insurance purposes. More information about the group can be found at https://www.sheffieldwalkinggroup.org.uk/faqs.
