Full description:
It's International Women's Day! To celebrate, we are holding SWGs 3rd annual women's only walk, open to all women and those who identify as women. Starting in Bamford, we will begin by following the Derwent Valley Heritage Way north towards Ladybower dam. We'll then cross the dam and start the steep climb up to the top of Bamford Edge for spectacular views over the valley and reservoir (weather permitting). After walking the length of the edge, we'll drop down into Hathersage, passing Little John's grave in Hathersage churchyard. Depending on buses, there may be time for a well deserved drink in the pub, or to explore some of Hathersage's many outdoor shops.
Public transport or car sharing options:
Catch the 272 bus from Sheffield Interchange at 9am, arriving at Bamford turnaround at 9.44am. Return buses are from Hathersage, departing 15.25 and 16.55, with a later one at 18.50. Please check buses yourself in case of changes.
Please note, there is planned engineering work on the train line this weekend, so please think twice if you are considering travelling by train.
