Full description:
Very much an urban walk! Setting off from Castle Square tram stop, we walk to the River Don and then pick up the Five Weirs Walk. This walk passes through an industrial part of Sheffield but gives the opportunity to see contrast between areas with wildlife, the river and industrial buildings side by side. The walk is mostly on good quality, level paths. Due to the nature of the route and part of the path being closed there will be a couple of sections on pavement beside fairly busy roads. Depending on time, we may head for a bit to eat or a drink after the walk.
Public transport or car sharing options:
The walk starts from Castle Square tram stop, which connects all the tram routes. There are numerous buses that stop nearby.
The walk is linear and ends at Meadowhall Interchange with trams, trains and buses available.
If driving, I would suggest using the park & ride at Meadowhall, catch the tram to the start and walk back to your car at Meadowhall.
