All SWG’s Ramblers members are invited to the Sheffield 20s & 30s Walking Group Annual General Meeting 2025!

Time: 19:30 to 21:00 and then drinks afterwards!

Location: The Lescar in The Project Space which is through the beer garden at the back.

The Annual General Meeting is a chance to:

  • Celebrate all that has been achieved by the group in the last year from each committee member.

  • Have your say by raising any motions or matters arising for the meeting (email any of these in advance so they can be added to the agenda).

  • Look forward to the coming year culminating in the appointing of a new committee for 2025/26

Committee Roles 2025/26
Each year we seek new volunteers to join the committee. The time, effort and skills given each year is essential to making the group what it is, running the day to day activities of the group though undertaking a number of rolls listed below. It’s rewarding being part of helping the group run smoothly, and new committee members bring new ideas and skills that can benefit everyone in the group.

The roles available are:

Chair

  • Supports the running of the group, chairing meetings, following ramblers procedures and helping respond to enquiries.

  • Is a link with National and Regional Ramblers through attendance of South Yorkshire and North East Derbyshire Ramblers quarterly meetings.

Group Walks Programme Coordinator

  • Plan and advertises the group walks program

  • Plans pub meets for walk leaders

  • Gently badgers the walk leaders for more walks

Safety and Training Officer

  • The safety and training officer looks out for our walk leaders, and makes sure they have everything they need to lead walks safely and confidently.

  • This involves keeping track of, ordering and replacing kit, arranging first aid and navigation training, and supporting members to become new leaders.

Secretary

  • Arranges group meetings preparing agendas and taking notes.

  • Keeps track of membership numbers and queries.

Treasurer

  • Looks after group finances managing group expenditure and funds to support group activities.

Publicity Officer

  • Publicises the group walks and events on social media, promotes the benefits of being a group member, and advertises future events with the group.

  • Help promote the group and group activities through other local media.

Weekends Away Coordinator

  • Finds, books, and plans group weekends away with support from rest of committee.

Social Secretary (x 2)

  • Help run and organise social events for group members. Including summer and Christmas parties

  • Help group members organise, advertise and run social events.

Other roles we’d like to include:

  • A web coordinator to maintain and improve group website and online accounts such as Meetup.

  • A second walks coordinator - we’re a busy group!

If you would like more information or wish to stand for any of the above roles, please email sheffieldwalkinggroup@hotmail.com. If you intend to stand please give your name, Ramblers membership number, which role you are standing for. You are also welcome to provide a manifesto to support your application should you wish. Voting will be done on the night of the AGM by a show of hands.
