Full description: We start at Hillsborough park and head up to Wharncliffe woods via the fantastic views of Birley edge. We'll then head down to the charming village of Oughtibridge and make our way back to Hillsborough via the River Don. There's a small amount of urban walking at the start and end, but we'll mainly be in the fields/woods/countryside of north Sheffield. Most of the accent is fairly gradual, there might be some muddy areas. We'll stop at the picnic area up in Wharncliffe woods for lunch and maybe for a liquid refreshment in Oughtibridge if people want to.
Public transport or car sharing options: The Yellow route tram will take you directly to Hillsborough park, whilst the Blue route takes you to Hilllsborough interchange, which is only a 5 minute walk. There are also a number of buses that serve the area. Many of the nearby roads are permit only, and you won't be able to park at Hillsborough park that day. But you can park at either the Malin Bridge park and ride (10 min walk to start) or Middlewood one (15 min walk) for free.
Be prepared: Please remember to dress appropriately for the time of year, with plenty of warm clothes and waterproofs, as well as food and water. Further information on what to bring can be found on our website here: https://www.sheffieldwalkinggroup.org.uk/be-prepared

Please note: Sheffield Millenial Walkers are a sister group to the Sheffield 20’s and 30’s Walking Group who are part of the Ramblers, a registered charity. All of our leaders are volunteers.
