A Short Circuit Around Castleton and Mam Tor A2 (7m) Dark Peak Castle Car Park and Visitor’s Centre (SK148832) From Castleton we take a path up to Hollins Cross, on the ridge between Lose Hill and Mam Tor, where we can enjoy views of Edale and the Hope Valley. Combs Charmer A2 (8m) West of the Peak Combs Reservoir CP (SK032798) We progress from the sandy beaches of the reservoir through the unspoilt village of Combs to reach new access land to the south. We then ascend north east beneath crags over an ancient landslip to reach the edge of the grouse moor of Combs Moss then contour north along a narrow path to the remains of the Iron Age fort at Castle Naze, with its excellent views of Shining Tor and Mam Tor. Finally we descend back to Combs, and the welcome sight of the Beehive Inn. 2005-10-16

The Great Ridge A2 (8m) Dark Peak Hope Train Station (SK181832) From Hope train station we take the steady climb to Lose Hill with its lovely views before taking in the entire ridge to Mam Tor. We then descend to Castleton via Winnats Pass where we enjoy a nice stop before the short walk back to Hope. 2004-11-06
Caverns and Castle Tor A3 (5m) Dark Peak Castleton Visitors centre (SK148829) Starting in Castleton we head below Peveril Castle and through Cavedale towards Hazard Mine. We then head to Windy Knoll. We then have a brief sojourn to the top of Mam Tor before heading back past the caverns into Casteton for a well desrved pint. 2011-06-27
Crow Moon Eclipse Hike A3 (8m) Dark Peak Castleton Visitor Centre CP (SK149829) Under the light of the Crow Moon we walk up amongst the limestone of Cavedale and follow tracks over to Windy Knoll, up onto Mam Tor and we then follow the ridge via Hollins Cross to Lose Hill and back down through fields to Castleton. Wanted in Sparrowpit B2 (11m) Dark Peak Edale train station (SK123853) An unusual chance to see both classic dark peak and white peak scenery in a single walk. From Edale we climb southwest out of the Vale of Edale by the Chapel Gate track then take a tour through the White Peak countryside visiting Slackhall and Bagshaw before stopping for a pint at the Wanted Inn in Sparrowpit. Five hills and five thousand feet of ascent B3 (11.5m) Dark Peak Yorkshire Bridge, Lydgate Lane (SK197849) Starting from the bridge at the bottom of Lydgate Lane at Yorkshire Bridge next to Ladybower Reservoir, we go steeply up Win Hill, then down and up to Lose Hill and Mam Tor before coming all the way back again over the two hills. Lots of ascent and descent with nice views over the Edale valley. 2011-12-18

The Hope Valley with the Notts and Derby Walking Grou C2 (14.5m) Dark Peak Grindleford Station Cafe (SK251788) We are meeting up with the Notts and Derby Group for a Joint Linear walk and I'm sure great fun will be had by all, so come along and be sociable! Starting from Grindleford Station café we will make our way to Edale via Bole Hill, Millstone Edge, Mitchell Field, Hathersage Booths, Leadmill, Callow Farm, Offerton Hall, Shatton, Brough, Hope (Tea Shop), Crimea Farm, Climbing up onto the Lose Hill and Mam Tor Ridge then descending into Edale for a few beers (and possibly supper). You may notice there's a few ups and downs in there - namely Lose Hill. If you would like time to sample a sausage bap in Grindleford cafe before setting off, then you will need to get the earlier train at 9.20am. If you are happy to head straight off on the walk on arrival then the 10.20am train will suffice. 2011-08-06
Edale Skyline - Winter Wonderland Version C3 (12m) Dark Peak Edale CP (SK124854) From Edale we climb Mam Tor, Rushup Edge, a hopefully frozen Brown Knoll, and then along the southern Edge of Kinder before descending Golden Clough back to Edale. 2006-01-15
Chapel Gate Chase C3 (14m) Dark Peak Edale Station CP (SK123853) We take the Chapel Gate track from Edale station, following the ridge along Rushup Edge, over Mam Tor and on to Lose Hill. From there we move on to Win Hill and follow the ridge back round for our descent to Edale. 2010-06-05
Two Peaks of Mam Tor C3 (15.5m) Dark Peak Castleton Car Park (SK148829) Starting in Castleton we proceed up Cave Dale before making our first ascent of Mam Tor. At Hollins cross we drop into Hope Valley, going via Edale, to ascend Grindsbrook Clough to the other side of the valley. We then walk along the top before climbing down Jacobs Ladder, go through Barber Booth and re-ascend back to the other side via Chapel Gate track. At this point we make our second and final assault on Mam Tor before descending back to Castleton. 2010-11-06
Hiking up Hills from Hope C3 (15m) Dark Peak Hope Station (SK181832) Starting at Hope up Lose Hill past Crimea Farm, along the ridge to Mam Tor then descending Harden Clough to Edale (providing an early option to leave the walk here for anyone who fells the need!). From Edale ascending Kinder via Golden Clough then heading east leaving Kinder and descending to Hope Cross. From here descending to Ladybower, traversing the hillside along to New Barn on the side of Win Hill, contouring round to Parkin Clough then ascending Win Hill. From the final descent to Hope via Twitchill Farm. 2008-03-15
Packing in the Peaks C3 (15m) Dark Peak Hathersage Station (SK233811) From hathersage Station we go up over Abney moor, down into Bradwell, then up onto Bradwell Moor. We then head across to Windy Knoll and an optional ascent of Mam Tor before going along Rushup Edge and onto boggy Brown Knoll. We descend the ridge to mount Famine to hit Chinley for a beer or two. Return to Hathersage or Sheffield by train. 2006-07-09
