Children on Walks
If you would like to bring your child on a walk, this is OK with the walking group subject to a few simple conditions:
- Ask the walk leader first. They may feel that the walk is not suitable for your child, or for children at all.
- All children aged under 15 years must be accompanied by an adult. We are not trained or qualified child-minders, and the parent/guardian remains responsible for the child while on the group walk.
- For the child's care in case an accident happens to you, we need the name and contact number of somebody to call in an emergency.
- This should be recorded on the Ramblers' official consent form (PDF) and handed to the walk leader at the start of the walk.
- Again, though you remain in charge of the child, the walk leader is in charge of the walk; so their permission is required for children to come along and any instructions they give must be followed.
Young People on Walks
If you are aged 15, 16 or 17, please first phone the walk leader to ask if you can attend the walk.
You can join a walk unaccompanied by an adult if you bring along either the above consent form, signed by your parent / guardian or you can obtain a Ramblers 15-17 Year Old Parental Consent Card as proof of parental consent. Consent is needed to enable decisions to be made about and/or administer emergency first aid and/or other medical treatment if necessary.
