Monthly Pub Meet: The Benjamin Huntsman
It's that first Tuesday of the month again, how time flies! After reviewing your comments on the message board we thought it would be good to sample some of the ales of a couple of other local pubs.
We start with the Benjamin Huntsman, where there's a wide selection of ales available as well as a good selection of cheap grub. Smokers, there's also a nice terrace outside for you!
Any new people please feel free to come along; plus the regulars of course! Just ring one of the social secretaries if you are new and would like us to look out for you.
Meet: The Benjamin Huntsman (Wetherspoons), 12-18 Cambridge Street, opposite site entrance to Cole Brothers/John Lewis at Barkers Pool. We have got some tables and standing room reserved upstairs, in front of the bar area.

Kelham Island Spring Beer Festival
Picky when it comes to beer and cider? Then join us for a selection of 80 (!) seasonal real ales, perries and ciders at the Kelham Island Brewery's Spring Beer Festival. We meet at The Fat Cat from 7.30pm and aim to have tried everything by 11pm when the pub closes.

Chocolate Tasting
"A chocolate journey - where you will explore with your tongue the wonders of chocolate". We will get to taste several different kinds of chocolate, learn a brief history of chocolate while drinking Black Forest Gateau tea and be given a goody bag to take home. Feel free to bring a bottle.

Monthly Pub Meet: The West End

Sharrow Lantern Festival
Lights and lanterns will once again liven up Sharrow. We meet at the Cremorne Pub on London Road at 7pm before we join the parade in Mount Pleasant Park at 8pm. It will end in the General Cemetery for a Jazz lounge style celebration.
If it rains, the parade will take place on the 18/04/2010.
There is the possibility that we have a go at making our own lanterns, so watch the message board closer to the time for more info.

Day out in Bradford
A day of culture, curry and beer in the vibrant city of Bradford!
First stop is the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Saltaire for a browse around the perfectly preserved Victorian village and Salts Mill www.saltsmill.org.uk. We will then hop over to Bradford to visit the free National Media Museum to gen up on film and photography, see the Daleks, collapse in TV Heaven with old kids TV or if you prefer watch an IMAX film on the 5 storey screen. www.nationalmediamuseum.org.uk
Time for early evening food at the not to be missed Bradford experience of the Kashmir Curry House and if you want to make an evening of it, off to a few spit and sawdust pubs serving the best of West Yorkshire ale. All parts of this are optional if you'd rather do your own thing. Bring some lunch or buy in Saltaire.
Meet: Sheffield Train Station in good time for the 9.21 am train to Leeds (just buy a day return to Bradford for £9.70, tickets to Saltaire will cost an additional £3.20).

End of Month Pub Crawl
And again, we have reached the end of the month, and even if we might not have reached payday yet, this first class pub crawl should be worth those last pennies that are left from last month' salary.
The plan is to meet at the Harlequin at 8pm, then Riverside at 9.15, and finally Kelham Island Tavern at 10.30. The times are approximate, so give us a call if you can't find us.

Evening Picnic at the Botanical Gardens
As those night are now lighter what better way to make sure you catch some of that spring sun than a picnic in the park after a day at work, or play. Bring something to sit on and anything you want to eat youself, or share incuding any games such as rounders or boules etc.
Meet: 5.30-6pm at the Botanical Gardens, top entrance, Clarkehouse Road. We'll be on the grass somewhere near the cafe entrance and the greenhouses.
Wet weather option is the Aunt Sally pub for tea on Clarkehouse Road meeting at the same time.

Ceilidh Night
Ready for a night of energetic dancing at this crazy Ceilidh evening? Come armed with some sensible dancing shoes and a sense of humour and your feet won't touch the ground! There is a bar available so no need to bring your own drinks.
