February
Mexican Meal
We head 'South of the border, down Mexico way' for a meal out at Amigos Mexican Kitchen, 272 London Road.
As you can probably guess, they specialise in freshly prepared traditional Mexican food, using authentic Mexican ingredients.
I've eaten here, the food is good, the prices are reasonable and there are vegetarian options.
Meet at The Cremone for 7pm
Table booked for 7.30pm.
10 places. Bookings open on January the 10th at the pub meet.

Pub Meet at Henry's
Back to the regular slot of first Tuesday in the month for February's pub meet. February made Don McClean shiver with every paper he delivered, bad news on the doorstep he couldn't take one more step (American Pie).
Poor Don, he didn't have the monthly pub meet at Henry's to cheer him up. With fine ales, wines and a great selection of non alcoholic drinks it a great way to shake off the February blues and look forward to the approaching spring.
Text one of the social secretaries if you're new and want somebody to keep an eye out for you.
Meet: Henry's Cambridge Street, S1
Time: From 8pm 'til closing time.
Anti-Valentines pub crawl...
Well it's (nearly) Valentines day again so what better excuse than to have a anti-valentines pub crawl to forget about it!! (Any excuse to drink beer basically...)
This time the plan is a crawl around Crookes and end up in Broomhill.
Starting in the Hallamshire at around 7.30, then on to the Cobden View. Then on we march to The Ball on Crookes, followed by The Grindstone. If we're still feeling brave then we'll zigzag (or roll) down the hill to the pubs in Broomhill.
It's tricky to give time estimates in each pub as it depends on the atmosphere etc, but give me a call on 0753 147 9715 if you want to know where we are.
Peter's Perpetual Pancake Party - 7pm
Come along for a pancake making and eating party on Shove/Pancake Tuesday, 7pm.

Bookings open on 7th February.

Pole Dancing Fitness Lesson
Back by popular demand! Poledancing is a growing fitness trend that is great fun and highly effective for weight loss and muscle toning.
A typical class starts with an easy choreographed pole dance routine to warm up the mind as well as the muscles, followed by work on poses and spins, and finally stretches.
Eve is qualified to teach poledancing by Vertical Dance. Wear shorts and a vest top and bare feet. Bring warm clothing for the warm up first.
Meet: Butterfly studios, Unit 18 Gordon Works, Valley Road, Sheffield S8 9FT.
Cost: £7ppn for 1 hour class.
Time: Meet outside the unit at 7.15pm
Bookings open Feb the 7th at the pub meet. I'll take payment then or you can send a cheque to the SWG address made out to Fiona Levitt.

Pub Meet at Henry's
On this day, Silly Putty was invented in 1950, Ghana gained independence in 1957 and George Formby died in 1961. So bring a ukelele or a banjolele and raise a glass to Ghana at the monthly pub meet.
Text one of the social secretaries if you're new and want somebody to keep an eye out for you. We'll be standing by a lamp post or cleaning a window.
Meet: Henry's Cambridge Street, S1

You'll Never Walk Alone this Weekend
Have you ever pictured yourself on a boat on a river with tangerine trees and marmalade skies? Good for you but stop that and join us as we go urban walking and exploring in the city of Liverpool, la. Home of The Beatles, Teardrop Explodes, Echo and his Bunnymen and countless bands post 1980's I'm sure.
The plan is flexible, but we want to include an urban walk led by Everton fanatic Verena on the Saturday, a meal out (venue to be decided) a few pubs, a museum or two and a trip to see 'Another Place' on Crosby Beach.
We're planning to stay the weekend from Saturday to Sunday but people can come for one or both days. Some may want to go on the Friday and make the most of the weekend.
Cheap train tickets go on sale the weekend of the Christamas 'do'. Train times to be confirmed later.
Accommodation, people can book their own or we can try to get a group booking in one of the independent hostels in Liverpool.
Weekends in Liverpool are very popular so if you want accommodation booked sign on by the 6th of January letting us know whether it's one night or two. People are free to book their own accommodationat any time. For the Saturday meal we need numbers by the 1st of March.

However, for those more adventurous, we can always consider moving to those 90's anthems at Babylon!
So get your gladrags on and come and join us for fun and frolics!!!

Pub Meet at Henry's
The 1st of May was traditionally the first day of Summer. It's also International Workers Day or Labour Day. On top of all that Charles II was restored in 1660 and in 1707 The Act of Union united England & Scotland in the Kingdom of Great Britain.
A busy day with lots to celebrate and where better to celebrate it than the monthly SWG pub meet.
Text one of the social secretaries if you're new and want somebody to keep an eye out for you. Or look for us by the Maypole comrades.
Meet: Henry's Cambridge Street, S1
Time: From 8pm 'til closing time.

Sheffield City Centre Treasure Hunt
9 May 2012 - Meet at 7pm at the central fountain of the Peace Garden.
Discover the hidden treasures of Sheffield city centre. Unfortunately the treasure isn't real gold but is a mixture of architectural and historical features to be newly discovered in small teams. You've probably never noticed them before even though you've passed them a thousand times. It should take 1 to 2 hours depending on how good you are at working out the clues. Book on by 6pm the day before so I can print out the right number of pages of clues.

Come along for a very fun and funny dancing session run by the student Ceilidh Society but open to everyone from beginners to experts. Lots of people to meet and dance with in small groups. Someone at the front will be there to tell you what to do while you laugh helplessly because no-one can do it properly!
No need to book so just turn up or contact Peter Clayton to arrange to meet in advance. Meet up at the bar from 8:30pm then start dancing when the music starts.
8:30pm-11pm at The Edge (University of Sheffield, Endcliffe Village campus)
It's all down hill from here pub crawl
Unashamedly combining a pub crawl with my impending birthday, this pub crawl is literally "all down hill from here". A bit like life
Meeting at 7.30 at The Hallamshire House on Commonside, we then move at some point to The Blake and then down the hill to the Hillsborough Hotel. From there the delights of Kelham Island are a few minutes away.
