To celebrate another successful year for the Group, 2004's Christmas Do involved Las Iguanas restaurant, S1 bar, followed by grooving away to 70s and 80s music at Hotpants at the Roundhouse.
Las Iguanas
30 souls descended on Las Iguanas in West One for a festive fare of traditional Christmas food; Mexican Quesadilla, Brazilian Xinxim (Pele's favourite apparently...) and Argentinian Carne de Parrilla (steak and chips to us) to name but a few.
Followed by desserts including "Romeo e Julietta", apt for certain couples who may have announced their engagement the same day, and "Chocolate Banoffi" which is (start salivating...): 'Thick chocolate & toffee fudge over light coffee infused biscuit base, with cajeta and caramel sauce'.
The two tables of 15 were soon into the swing, the biggest challenge seemingly fitting all the fajita fillings and various drinks on the tables - soon solved by scoffing it all down of course.
With the new committee running their first big social, it was an excellent chance for the old ones to sit back and relax for once (and give 'advice'), and for the new ones to wonder what the hell they'd let themselves in for...
As the photos show, party hats and strange expressions/uncomfortable camera poses were compulsory, and all in all it was a fantastic meal with really good service and top nosh.
S1 Bar, West Street
Then it was over to S1 for a meet up with everyone who didn't come to the meal...

Hotpants at the Roundhouse
...followed by travel to the Roundhouse for the new home of Hotpants via various transport methods (walking, hobbling in heels, Supertram, taxi).
Having never been to Hotpants at the City Hall (which was by all accounts really good), I thought this was a pretty good venue for it, good tunes and even some dancers on the stage to get everyone in the mood (not to mention free lollipops).
A definite split occurred in the group, those in the main, 70s inspired area and those in the 80s room/corridor (and those of us flitting between the two.) The advantage of a little hidden away room is that the dancing gets even more extreme - I'll let you guess which was which in the photos below!
