Once again the group's luck held, with dry and sunny walks on both days of the weekend. The bunkhouse was also warm and cosy, albeit the triple decker bunk beds were somewhat worrying (particularly for those on the top bunk). Near to the bunkhouse the Traveller's Rest lived up to its name, also serving food on the Saturday evening for those not enjoying the veggie curry at the bunkhouse.
Besides the bunk beds, the other challenge came in the form of the electrics: Everything electrical seemed to be cursed. The cooker had 'Off' and 'Red hot' for all rings and the oven, the site's public phonebox took money but didn't work, and by way of a surprise when sleeping, we discovered that a corner of the bunkhouse contained a generator that hummed all night through the walls.
None of this dampened spirits however, with various good walks to cover Helvellyn (on both days), Blencathra and an ambitious scrambling walk.
